Children with diabetes were waiting for 'sensors': SSI added the device to the reimbursement list

The "diabetes sensor" for children with type 1 diabetes has been added to the SGK's reimbursement list.

Minister Işıkhan recalled in a statement on his social media account that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had announced that sensor-based glucose monitoring devices for children under 18 with type 1 diabetes would be included in the Social Security Institution's reimbursement coverage.

Stating that the amendment made to the Health Implementation Communiqué (SUT) in this context has been published in the Official Gazette, Işıkhan expressed that they have thus implemented a significant improvement for children with type 1 diabetes.

Minister Işıkhan noted the following:

"The 'continuous subcutaneous glucose monitoring system' needed by our children under 18 with type 1 diabetes to track their blood sugar has been included in the reimbursement list by our Social Security Institution. Our citizens will be able to obtain the measuring devices that receive approval from the Scientific Commission from medical suppliers in a short time with a prescription from our specialist physicians. The health and well-being of our children is our greatest priority. I wish this to be beneficial to our precious children with type 1 diabetes and their families, and I wish healing to our patients."

In the visual shared in Minister Işıkhan's statement, other regulations regarding the SUT were also included.

Accordingly, SGK reimbursement prices for blood components and hemodialysis treatment were increased by 45 percent. Access to medication was facilitated by removing the patient approval rule for the drug used in the preparation process before bone marrow transplantation. Patients were provided with earlier access to the smart drug used in lung cancer treatment.

Additionally, it was decided to make a monthly payment of 800 liras to patients with mitochondrial cytopathy.
