Health system sounding the alarm: Finding an appointment for children on MHRS has become a dream

In Istanbul, the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS) shows no available appointments in the coming days for pediatric branches, including pediatric dentistry, pediatrics, and child and adolescent mental health.

Evaluating the appointment crisis for Şevval Aydoğan of Cumhuriyet, Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health Specialist Dr. Osman Küçükosmanoğlu said, "Our health system requires a complete overhaul. First and foremost, primary care family medicine centers need to be strengthened to prevent overcrowding at hospitals."

DOCTORS ARE LEAVING FOR ABROAD

The fact that the pediatrics department is less preferred due to the severity of economic, social, and on-call conditions, as well as the difficulty of the training, is among the most important factors in this process.

According to data from the Turkish Medical Association, pediatricians ranked first among medical specialties in the distribution of physicians who obtained 'good standing' certificates to move abroad last year, at 4.85 percent.
