Hekim Birliği Union to hold three-day protest on September 28-30

The Central Executive Board of the Hekim Birliği Union has decided to initiate a protest process to demand the improvement of physicians' economic, social, and personal rights, as well as the provision of a safe working environment in healthcare institutions.

The union announced that union-led protests will take place during working hours on September 28, 29, and 30, 2026. The statement noted that previous demands submitted to the public and relevant administrative authorities had not received a positive response.

The demands of Hekim Birliği include increasing physician on-call fees, ending incentive deductions during annual leave, addressing injustices in the incentive system, increasing fixed supplementary payments by at least two-fold and reflecting them in retirement, and lifting financial deductions targeting family physicians.

The union also stated that personal safety cannot be guaranteed in healthcare institutions and demanded that effective security measures be taken to prevent the entry of firearms, as well as sharp and piercing objects, into public health facilities.

It was reported that during the protest, outpatient services will not be provided to patients who have not made an appointment via MHRS. It was decided that appointment durations in standard outpatient clinics should be arranged to be at least 10 minutes, and at least 30 minutes in dental clinics.

The statement concluded with a message of determination regarding the protest process, stating, “The labor, personal rights, and personal safety of physicians cannot be ignored.”
