HIV is a virus that affects the human immune system.

Dr. Kumbasar Karaosmanoğlu, noting that she has been working in an HIV clinic for approximately 17 years, stated the following:

"HIV infection is an infection that can affect all segments of society. Unfortunately, women are the most vulnerable group in this, as they are in everything else. While the rates among women in our country remain slightly lower, when we evaluate our women, we see that women have a lower level of awareness and do not see themselves as being at risk."

'AWARENESS NEEDS TO BE INCREASED'

Expressing that women are seen as a more vulnerable group for whom awareness needs to be increased further, Karaosmanoğlu stated, "Of course, children are also in our high-risk group, as transmission can occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding in connection with women. Therefore, I believe that awareness needs to be increased among women and children."
