Justin Timberlake diagnosed with illness after Istanbul concert

American artist Justin Timberlake has revealed that he has been battling Lyme disease for two years, following his performance in Istanbul as part of his long-running "Forget Tomorrow" world tour. Timberlake shared the news of his health struggle with his fans in a message posted on Instagram.

The 44-year-old Timberlake stated, "I usually prefer not to share my private life with the public. However, remaining silent this time could lead to misunderstandings," noting that the illness has caused him physical and mental exhaustion.

The artist expressed that he had considered canceling the tour due to the pain and fatigue he experienced before the concert, but that music gave him strength. "The moment I step onto the stage, I feel better," said Timberlake, adding that he has rediscovered his mental resilience during this process.

WHAT IS LYME DISEASE?

Lyme disease is an infection transmitted through ticks that carry the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. The infection presents symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue, and skin rash within 48 hours of a bite. If left untreated, it can affect the heart, nervous system, and joints. It generally heals within 2-4 weeks with oral antibiotic treatment and is not transmitted from person to person through contact.

Timberlake concluded his message by thanking his wife, Jessica Biel, and their sons, Silas and Phin: "Your unconditional love is my home, my heart. I am coming to you."
