Menstrual pain can be a sign of infertility
Prof. Dr. Hakan Çoksüer, an Obstetrics and Gynecology and IVF specialist in Diyarbakır, warned that menstrual pain could be a sign of infertility, stating that the problem can be prevented through early diagnosis and expert-recommended treatments.
Pointing out that menstrual pain can be a sign of infertility, Prof. Dr. Hakan Çoksüer stated that today, menstrual pain is a major nuisance for young girls and is the biggest problem for most women.
Defining menstrual pain as severe pain caused by the regular contraction of the uterus during the menstrual period, Prof. Çoksüer stated that the form of menstrual pain they see most often can be associated with conditions such as endometriosis or adenomyosis, also known as chocolate cysts, in these patients.
"Generally, when young girls have endometriosis, it can be very closely related to infertility," said Prof. Çoksüer, adding, "Therefore, our young girls who experience menstrual pain must be under a doctor's supervision to avoid facing infertility problems in the future.
They need to have their tests done regularly. If they have chocolate cysts, infertility can be an issue. Women who have menstrual pain should not neglect this. They need to have their routine, regular check-ups," he said.
