Mother also dies in mussel and kumpir tragedy
A family visiting Istanbul from Germany for a vacation was hospitalized after being poisoned by food they ate in Ortaköy. The family's two children and their mother have lost their lives.
Servet and Çiğdem B., a couple who came to Istanbul from Germany for a vacation, were staying at a hotel in Fatih with their children, Kadir Muhammet (6) and Masal B. (3). After eating in Ortaköy, the family was hospitalized with complaints of nausea and vomiting.
Following the poisoning, the children, Kadir Muhammet and Masal B., lost their lives, and mother Çiğdem B. also passed away today. The father, Servet B., continues to receive treatment in the hospital.
RESTAURANT SEALED AND ARRESTS MADE
The restaurant where the family ate was sealed indefinitely by the Beşiktaş Municipality. The District Directorate of Agriculture has begun investigations by taking samples from the business. Within the scope of the Chief Public Prosecutor's investigation, the restaurant's Turkish delight, kumpir, and mussel vendor were taken into custody. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
