New epidemic at Turkey's border: Authorities take action following rising cases in Greece
In a statement issued by the National Public Health Organization of Greece (EODY), attention was drawn to the sudden increase in measles cases in Romania, France, the UK, and Austria.
The Greek Ministry of Health has decided to take precautionary measures against the increasing threat of the measles virus in Europe.
CASES ARE OF FOREIGN ORIGIN
The statement, which highlighted that no measles cases were encountered in Greece in 2022 and 2023, noted that the measles virus was detected in two individuals in 2024 with links to travel abroad.
SPECIAL TEAM TO BE ESTABLISHED
The statement reported that the Ministry of Health has decided to form a special health team that will focus on vaccinating the population to prevent the spread of the measles virus in Greece.
The statement also emphasized the importance of raising public awareness against the virus.
