Not for every stomach! Expert warning about mineral water

Although mineral water is seen as a healthy beverage alternative for many, experts point out that not every constitution reacts to this drink in the same way.

Spanish doctor Julio Maset states that while mineral water has the same hydrating properties as water, it can pose risks for some sensitive constitutions. In a statement made on social media, he said, "Mineral water can facilitate digestion and be soothing after heavy meals. However, it does not always replace still water."

EFFECTS ON DENTAL HEALTH

The acidic nature of mineral water can damage tooth enamel. While experts acknowledge that mineral water is healthier than sugary drinks, they emphasize that it should be consumed with meals and in moderation.

WARNINGS FOR THOSE WITH DIGESTIVE SYSTEM SENSITIVITIES

Individuals with digestive issues such as gastroesophageal reflux and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are advised to avoid mineral water. Dr. Elena Ivanina notes that carbonated drinks do not directly trigger IBS, but they can increase symptoms such as bloating and gas. She also adds that carbonated drinks with sugar or artificial sweeteners can increase the risk of diarrhea.

WATER REMAINS THE SAFEST OPTION

Although mineral water is seen as a healthy alternative, it is not recommended to completely replace water with it. Careful consumption is particularly important for individuals with sensitive digestive systems.
