Petroleum hydrocarbons had contaminated the tap water! Statement released

The Karaman Provincial Health Directorate had previously announced that water analyses conducted on March 12 revealed the presence of "petroleum hydrocarbons" in the city's tap water. Following this, the Karaman Municipality was immediately notified to take precautions and carry out remediation work.

The supply of water from the İbrala Dam to the city network was temporarily suspended, and daily water analyses were initiated to protect public health.

TAP WATER CLEANED

The Karaman Provincial Health Directorate announced that following regular analyses, the tap water has been cleared of "petroleum hydrocarbons." The statement included the following remarks:

"As the Karaman Provincial Health Directorate, samples taken daily from the city network were tested at the Karaman L2 Type Public Health Laboratory and the Ankara National Public Health Reference Laboratory. As a result of regular analyses, it has been determined that the tap water is clear of petroleum hydrocarbons."

TAP WATER IS SAFE TO USE

Officials stated that as of March 16, the tap water in Karaman poses no risk to public health and can be safely used as drinking water.

"There is no objection to our citizens using the tap water for drinking. Respectfully announced to the public."
