TEB issues a call regarding drug supply!
The Turkish Pharmacists Association (TEB) has pointed out that among the drugs whose sales were halted by a pharmaceutical company, there are medications with no equivalents, warning that this could lead to patient grievances. They issued a call for the support and production of the domestic pharmaceutical industry.
Following a foreign pharmaceutical company's decision last week to halt the sale of certain drugs in the Turkish market, it sent an information note to drug suppliers and pharmacies. After this notification became the subject of reports suggesting the company was withdrawing from the Turkish market, the company issued a statement announcing that it was not withdrawing from the market but had only halted the sale of certain drugs.
The Turkish Pharmacists Association (TEB) stated in a written announcement that a pharmaceutical company had stopped the sale of some of its products in Turkey, noting that among the drugs whose sales were halted were those with no equivalents, and drew attention to a process that would result in patient grievances. Criticizing the company's stance, the statement said, “In its statement, the company also mentioned that it has been serving the people of this country for a long time. While we thank them for the services they have provided, we must state that both our citizens and our country have not left these services unrequited and have paid whatever the cost was.”
"DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OF DRUGS MUST BE SUPPORTED"
In its statement, the TEB called for the support of the domestic pharmaceutical industry and for measures to be taken to ensure that drugs are produced domestically. Emphasizing that this is the root solution to the problem, they called for the prevention of patient grievances. The statement included the following: “Our domestic pharmaceutical industry must be supported using all available means, and these drugs must be produced in our country and offered for the service of our people as soon as possible. As the Turkish Pharmacists Association, we state that we will take the necessary responsibility in this regard and call on the authorized institutions to take the necessary measures urgently.”
