Tick-borne death toll in Sivas rises to 7: 55-year-old woman loses her life

A 55-year-old woman identified as S.A. has died in the hospital where she was receiving treatment after falling ill following a tick bite in Sivas. The number of people who have lost their lives in the city this year due to tick bites has risen to 7.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred at the Evelikli plateau within the borders of Aksu village in the Koyulhisar district. S.A., who applied to the district hospital with complaints of high fever, was transferred to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Hospital due to suspected Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) virus.

S.A. could not be saved despite 4 days of treatment at the hospital. It is alleged that the woman fell ill after removing the tick that had attached to her body by her own means.

Experts warn that in the event of a tick bite, one should not intervene with the tick with bare hands, should apply to the nearest health institution, and should monitor for symptoms such as high fever, fatigue, and headache.
