WARNING FROM AN EXPERT FOR ADANA
In Adana, experts have warned citizens to exercise. Op. Dr. Kuntay Kaplan, a Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Specialist at Adana City Training and Research Hospital, stated, "The reason Adana is the province where obesity is most common stems from late-night eating habits and the richness of its cuisine. We call on our patients to exercise regularly, engage in regular physical activity, and maintain a balanced diet to protect themselves from obesity."
Noting that one in every 3 people in Turkey is obese, Kaplan added, "Obesity has become a very serious public health problem whose frequency is gradually increasing both in the world and in our country. Unfortunately, it leads to serious problems today. We calculate this using body mass index parameters. While a body mass index between 18.5 and 25 is considered normal weight and 25-30 is considered overweight, we speak of obesity when it rises above 30. 30-35 is class 1, 35-40 is class 2, and above 40 is considered class 3 obesity."
