Watch out for sea bream consumption! It may cause significant health problems
Sea bream, one of the most consumed fish in Turkey, carries certain health risks. Experts have stated that caution should be exercised regarding its consumption.
Although sea bream is a frequently consumed and preferred fish species due to its taste, there are some points to be careful about regarding its nutritional value and effects on health.
Research has revealed that the nutritional properties of sea bream are limited compared to some other fish species and that it may pose various health risks.
NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF SEA BREAM AND OMEGA IMBALANCE
Sea bream contains a higher ratio of omega-6 fatty acids compared to fish species known to be rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
Excessive intake of omega-6 fatty acids can increase inflammation in the body, which may lead to health problems such as heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.
When compared to fish rich in omega-3s such as salmon, sardines, and mackerel, sea bream offers a lower nutritional value.

IMPORTANCE OF FRESHNESS AND STORAGE CONDITIONS
The freshness of fish is of critical importance for health. Fish that are not fresh may harbor harmful bacteria and parasites. Storing fish like sea bream under appropriate conditions and cooking them correctly is extremely important in terms of reducing such risks.
HEAVY METAL RISK
Sea bream can contain heavy metals such as mercury, especially when raised in polluted waters. Long-term exposure to mercury can have negative effects on the brain and nervous system.
This can lead to learning disabilities, attention deficit, and behavioral problems. Furthermore, mercury can accumulate in the kidneys, impairing kidney function and weakening the immune system.
MAY CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEMS
Excessive consumption of sea bream can disrupt the sodium and potassium balance in the body. This may trigger health problems such as heart conditions or kidney issues. In particular, excessive consumption of saltwater fish can cause fluid imbalances in the body.
