West Nile Virus continues to claim lives

It has been announced that two people have lost their lives due to the West Nile Virus (WNV) in the U.S. states of New Jersey and Wisconsin. While health authorities in New Jersey announced the deaths caused by WNV, a similar situation was reported in a statement from the state of Wisconsin.

VIRUS SPREAD HAS INCREASED

While it was stated that an average of 18 WNV cases are recorded in Wisconsin each year, it was emphasized that the virus has been detected in mosquitoes, animals, and healthy blood donors this year. This situation indicates that the spread of the virus has increased.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a total of 289 WNV cases were recorded in 33 states in 2024. In the state of Illinois, three people tested positive for WNV within the last seven days, and it was reported that one of these individuals has passed away.

The West Nile Virus is known as a virus that is transmitted through mosquito bites and can lead to health problems. Authorities are urging the public to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from this virus.
