World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made statements regarding the problems experienced during the COVID-19 period.
THE WORLD IS NOT READY FOR A NEW PANDEMIC
In a program he attended on CNN, Ghebreyesus stated that many of the problems experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic still persist, and that the world is not prepared for a new pandemic. Criticizing that period, Ghebreyesus noted that there were problems with "timely and transparent" information sharing and global coordination.
CALL FOR A PANDEMIC TREATY
Calling on all countries to sign the "pandemic treaty" to facilitate the sharing of tools used in combating the pandemic, such as vaccines and medicines, as well as important information, Ghebreyesus said, "As we have seen, there are gaps in our system. If something happens, because we are not prepared, anything can happen. But we can intervene in this immediately and thus minimize the damage."
