12 suspects arrested in tender investigation into Avcılar Municipality
12 suspects referred to the courthouse in the investigation regarding Avcılar Municipality's 2022 asphalt tender have been arrested.
12 suspects detained as part of an investigation into "rigging a tender" at Avcılar Municipality have been arrested.
The investigation, conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was launched following allegations regarding the "Avcılar District Asphalt Production" tender held by the Avcılar Municipality Directorate of Science Affairs in 2022.
In the investigation, it was alleged that high bids were received in the tender without conducting a cost estimate research from public institutions, and that the tender cost was increased in this way. Proceedings were initiated against the suspects on the grounds that they caused public loss.
12 people were detained in a simultaneous operation covering Istanbul, as well as Ankara, Balıkesir, and Bitlis. The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse.
Following their statements to the prosecutor, the 12 suspects were brought before the on-duty magistrate judge with a request for arrest on charges of "rigging the tender of public institutions or organizations." The court decided to arrest the suspects.
It was learned that a total of 14 people were issued detention warrants within the scope of the investigation, one of whom was receiving treatment in a hospital due to health problems, and another was in prison for a different crime.
