Two suspects wanted in the investigation into the armed attack in which Eşref Kemal Saral was seriously wounded in the Of district of Trabzon have been captured in Istanbul.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Of Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the suspects identified as Y.E.S. (30) and B.İ. (34) had fled to Istanbul. The suspects, who face charges of "attempted intentional homicide" and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," were detained in an operation carried out at an address in Çatalca following surveillance.
It was reported that search operations are ongoing at the address where the suspects were staying. It was noted that the investigation is continuing in order to determine the planning of the attack and to identify other individuals or connections involved in the incident.
The attack took place in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of the Of district of Trabzon, near the fishing shelters. 58-year-old Eşref Kemal Saral was seriously wounded after being struck by 5 bullets during the armed altercation and was taken to the hospital.
Saral, who is mentioned among the prominent figures of the organized crime group known as the Sarallar, had also recently come to the agenda with his messages of support for Amedspor.
The attack was claimed by fugitive Yakup Kerem Saral, who is said to be the subject of an Interpol red notice, in a statement made on his social media account. Yakup Kerem Saral argued that he carried out the act to "protect the reputation of the Saral family" and stated, "This was a warning to him; I want him to know that the second one will be much more severe."
Yakup Kerem Saral's name had previously come to the agenda with an assassination plot targeting Sedat Şahin. The attack occurred following the "peace" process announced between the Sarallar and Şahinler groups, which was mediated by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.
