In an illegal betting investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, striking allegations regarding O.B., a data analyst working in the field of sports data analytics, have been added to the case file. It is alleged that O.B. provided an unfair advantage to certain individuals by delaying the data transmitted to the live betting system.
According to the allegations in the investigation file, O.B. delayed live data from various sports matches, primarily tennis and volleyball, by approximately 7 seconds. It is claimed that during this time, the score in the match became clear, and individuals connected to the suspect placed bets using odds that had not yet been updated.
According to the prosecutor's findings, legal betting companies receiving services from the firm where O.B. worked suffered a total loss of 12 million lira due to this method. O.B. was detained on July 21 as part of the investigation and was arrested by the court to which he was referred following police procedures.
In an examination conducted by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) within the scope of the file, it was determined that there was a total of 192 million lira in money inflows and outflows in O.B.'s accounts. Following this finding, it was reported that the investigation has been expanded to cover financial connections.
Within the framework of the investigation, 8 other individuals assessed to have acted in concert with O.B. were identified. While the suspects were detained in an operation, it was stated that the investigation into the betting transactions and money traffic is ongoing.
