Arrest request for Leman magazine's editor-in-chief
Leman magazine Editor-in-Chief Aslan Özdemir, who was detained as part of an investigation launched against him, has been referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for his arrest.
Four people have been arrested as part of an investigation launched on charges of "insulting religious values" due to a cartoon published in Leman.
The cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan, financial manager Ali Yavuz, graphic designer Cebrail Okçu, and editor-in-chief Zafer Aknar were arrested by the duty court they were brought before.
Aslan Özdemir, one of the editors-in-chief who was determined to be abroad during the operations, was detained yesterday at Istanbul Airport upon his return to Turkey.
Following his statement at the prosecutor's office, Özdemir was referred to the duty criminal court of peace with a request for his arrest.
