Breaking News... Enver Altaylı arrested in Kaşif Kozinoğlu investigation

A new development has occurred in the reopened investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who passed away in Silivri Prison in 2011. Former intelligence officer and FETÖ convict Enver Altaylı provided testimony as a "suspect" within the scope of the investigation.

Altaylı, who was brought to the Silivri Courthouse from the prison where he is currently incarcerated, completed his testimony before the prosecutor's office. He had been referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for his arrest on charges of "inciting intentional homicide."

Altaylı was arrested by the court.

THE FILE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE AGENDA IN 2026

Kaşif Kozinoğlu had been arrested and placed in Silivri Prison as part of the Ergenekon conspiracy and the Odatv investigation. Kozinoğlu passed away on November 12, 2011, after falling ill in prison.

Following his death, an investigation was launched by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, statements were taken from individuals in the same ward, and ward footage was examined. In a statement from the Ministry of Health at the time, it was reported that the emergency call to 112 was received at 18:30, and the ambulance arrived at the scene at 18:42.

The file regarding Kozinoğlu's death was reopened in 2026. As part of the investigation, proceedings were carried out in September against prison officials, healthcare workers, journalists, and certain individuals who held positions related to the file during the period of the incident.

In the first operation, one of the 10 suspects detained was arrested, while judicial control measures were imposed on 7 others. In the second operation conducted on September 10, 9 people, including journalists and healthcare workers, were detained. Following the proceedings, Selahattin Günday, Özlem Uslu, and Emre Atmaca were arrested; 6 suspects were released under judicial control.

In the later stages of the investigation, Ali İşgören, the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor at the time who had issued a decision of non-prosecution in the file following Kozinoğlu's death and was later dismissed from his profession within the scope of FETÖ, and Necip Doğan, who served as the prison prosecutor at the time of the incident, were also detained.

In the case file where İşgören and Doğan were arrested on charges of "membership in a criminal organization," judicial control measures in the form of house arrest were also imposed on retired Navy Captain Hasan Ataman Yıldırım and retired Gendarmerie Colonel Hasan Atilla Uğur, who were among Kozinoğlu's wardmates, under the charge of "intentional homicide."
