DEM Party files criminal complaint against Bengi Başer over 'Valley of the Hırt' post
The DEM Party has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Prof. Dr. Bengi Başer due to a post she made on social media.
The DEM Party Law and Human Rights Commission, on behalf of Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, has initiated legal proceedings regarding a social media post by Prof. Dr. Bengi Başer. It was alleged that Başer's post targeted the Kurdish people and threatened social peace.
The criminal complaint stated that Başer's remarks humiliated a segment of the public due to their ethnic identity and associated them with crime. It was emphasized that this situation is contrary to the articles of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey that guarantee the right to live in equality and dignity.
The application stated, "The suspect's hate-filled language has the potential to increase tensions in society and poses a danger to public order." The DEM Party requested that an indictment be prepared against Başer for crimes including "Publicly Inciting or Humiliating the Public to Hatred and Hostility," "Incitement to Commit a Crime," and "Hate and Discrimination."
Prof. Dr. Bengi Başer had made a post on her social media account stating, "If only you spent the energy you waste on destroying stray animals on rehabilitating these human sub-species!.."
