Erdoğan makes statement on new constitution

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is making statements at the "New Constitution Symposium" held at Ulucanlar Prison.

The highlights of Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

"Today is September 12. Exactly 43 years ago, Turkey experienced one of its darkest days. If only the walls of Ulucanlar, Mamak, and Diyarbakır prisons could speak and tell of those days. The burden of the young people killed, such as Hüseyin Kulmahmut, will not leave the coup plotters alone in the afterlife either. All of those who were crammed into prisons with rifle butts were eventually released. This example alone is a sign of how superficial the work done was.

The greatest dagger that the September 12 administration plunged into the heart of our country is the 1982 coup constitution, which we are still talking about and debating today.

We have not abandoned our goal of providing our country with a new, civilian, democratic, libertarian, and inclusive constitution.

We will never stop working, striving, and struggling until we gift our nation the new constitution, which is one of the components of our Century of Turkey goal."
