First statement from Hasan Atilla Uğur following the detention of Oğuzhan Uğur
Hasan Atilla Uğur has made a statement regarding his son, Oğuzhan Uğur, who was detained as part of an investigation into the AHBAP Association.
Oğuzhan Uğur, the founder of Babala TV, was detained at his home as part of an investigation into allegations that donations collected on behalf of the AHBAP Association were transferred to the private accounts of its administrators.
Following the detention decision, the first statement came from Uğur's father, retired Gendarmerie Intelligence Colonel Hasan Atilla Uğur. As reported by Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk, Hasan Atilla Uğur stated that the "procedure is being followed" regarding the process and used the following expressions:
Our heads are held high, our conscience is clear. We have nothing to hide, no problematic situation. While it was being said that they would come to my son's house to detain him and search his home, these were being recorded and then somehow leaked to the press. Unfortunately, we have become accustomed to such negativity.
In his statement, Hasan Atilla Uğur noted that their lawyers are with Oğuzhan Uğur and that they are following the developments. Uğur said, "Ultimately, we have done nothing wrong to have any regrets. The procedure is also being followed regarding my son. Our lawyer is already with him. We are also monitoring the developments. We expect him to join us as soon as possible."
Hasan Atilla Uğur was among the figures who took part in the first interrogation of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan at İmralı; he was also arrested as part of the Ergenekon case.
