Former mayor Şükrü Sözen and his brother arrested
Former Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen and his brother Fatih Sözen have been arrested as part of a corruption and bribery investigation.
Former Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen and his brother Fatih Sözen, who were detained at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport on July 1 as part of an investigation into allegations of corruption and bribery, were transferred to the Manavgat courthouse.
The Sözen brothers, who were brought to the courthouse under heavy security measures, had their statements taken by the prosecutor's office after their processing was completed.
Following the prosecutorial process, Şükrü Sözen and Fatih Sözen were brought before a criminal judge of peace and were arrested and sent to prison.
Şükrü Sözen had previously resigned from the CHP on July 16, following the suspension of his party membership during a Central Executive Board meeting.
