Striking placards from the Saraçhane protest
The arrest of CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is being protested in Saraçhane. Citizens are expressing their reactions against the decision and calling on the government to resign.
Citizens gathered in Saraçhane opposed the arrest of 50 people, including İmamoğlu. Arguing that the decision was unlawful, the citizens showed their reactions with the placards they carried during the protest in Saraçhane.
A protester walking from Yenikapı to Saraçhane was seen carrying a placard that read, "The siblings of Ali İsmail Korkmaz are together." Korkmaz was murdered in Eskişehir at the age of 19 during the 2013 Gezi protests.
In front of the İBB building in Saraçhane, a poster carried by a protester reading "Everything will be very beautiful" and "Don't worry Mom, I am at my work and in my resistance" was captured by the 12punto lens.
A protester wrote on the placard they carried, "As the tired and lonely generation, whose youth was wasted in vain, finds one another, it has not fallen and will not fall."
