Hazal Kaya testifies in AHBAP investigation: 'I donated 120,000 TL to AHBAP, I am also a victim'

Actress Hazal Kaya gave her testimony to the prosecutor at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan as part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the AHBAP Association. Following her testimony, Kaya's statements regarding her aid activities during the earthquake period, her participation in the Babala TV broadcast, and her donation to AHBAP were revealed.

In her testimony, Kaya stated that she has no personal acquaintance with Haluk Levent, noting that Levent had reached out to her by phone in 2020 due to his aid activities for children with SMA. Kaya stated that there was no concrete request for aid during that conversation, saying, "I have never met him in person, neither during that process nor afterwards. Likewise, we have had no other phone conversations. Therefore, we have no acquaintance."

Explaining that she participated in the Babala TV live broadcast to help during the earthquake period, Kaya noted that she went to the office where the broadcast was held of her own volition and did not receive any call or direction to do so. Stating that her social media posts were also intended to support those affected by the earthquake, Kaya said she was pregnant at the time and was emotionally affected by what was happening.

Hazal Kaya announced that she personally donated 120,000 TL to AHBAP, stating, "Since many pregnant women and children were also affected by the earthquake, I felt especially compelled to help. For this reason, I made donations as much as I could."

Kaya stated that she is also a victim due to the alleged misuse of donations. "I am very sad that our trust has been damaged in this way. I want to learn where my donation went. I will use my right to file a complaint in this regard if necessary," said Kaya, describing the exploitation of people's good intentions as "an evil done to society."

Expressing that AHBAP's activities during the earthquake period created trust in the public, Kaya said that the association's procurement of tents and the statements of support from public officials were effective in this sense of trust. Kaya also expressed that she found the allegations reflected in the press to be "terrible.".
