HSK launches investigation into prosecutor Ahmet Yıkılmaz over bribery allegations

The Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) has launched an investigation into Ankara West Public Prosecutor Ahmet Yıkılmaz. According to information provided by judicial sources, the First Chamber of the HSK decided to initiate an investigation due to the allegations concerning Yıkılmaz.

Yıkılmaz's name came to the fore with bribery allegations mentioned in an indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding an alleged assassination attempt against Aziz İhsan Aktaş. The indictment included assessments concerning 19 individuals, including Selahattin Yılmaz.

In the aforementioned indictment, it was alleged that Ahmet Yıkılmaz, who previously served as Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor of Ankara, received 300,000 dollars in exchange for lifting an asset seizure order in the "Iron Fist" investigation.

The investigation launched by the HSK is seen as the first step in the process of evaluating the allegations by the council. The final assessment regarding the claims will be clarified at the end of the investigation to be conducted and any subsequent disciplinary process.
