Indictment filed against 13 defendants in car dealership attack

The investigation into the armed attack on a car dealership in the Kepez district of Antalya has been completed. The indictment, prepared by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and accepted by the Antalya 8th Criminal Court of First Instance, seeks penalties for a total of 13 defendants, 8 of whom are in custody.

The incident occurred on June 7 on Serik Street in the Altınova neighborhood. According to the indictment, the attacker, who covered his face and used a hood and hat to avoid recognition, opened fire with an unlicensed handgun at the electric vehicle charging station and the display window at the entrance of the business. The attack caused damage to the glass and the charging station.

Evidence regarding the attack was collected during the crime scene investigation.

The indictment states that E.K., identified as the perpetrator of the attack, made threatening remarks during the incident and recorded the act with a mobile phone. It was noted that E.K. ran away after opening fire, discarded his clothing along the escape route, and was later apprehended at a house where he was hiding in Kepez.

CHARGES IN THE INDICTMENT

The indictment requests penalties for the defendants for the crimes of "armed threat," "property damage," and "violation of the Law on Firearms and Knives and Other Tools." Eleven of the defendants were also charged with "membership in an armed criminal organization." R.E. was evaluated for responsibility under the charge of "incitement," while H.K.A. was evaluated as an "organization leader."

The prosecution alleged that the attack was planned under the instructions of a criminal organization leader abroad. The indictment stated that R.E. instructed U.C.Y. to organize an armed act in Antalya, and that U.C.Y. coordinated the preparations by contacting E.K. and M.P., whom he had met in prison.

The indictment also included that E.K. and M.P. arrived in Antalya one day before the attack and checked into a guesthouse, and that 10 thousand liras were sent to E.K.'s bank account prior to this check-in. The prosecution assessed that these preparations demonstrated that the defendants acted in concert.

Car dealership official M.V.A. stated in his testimony that he suffered 180 thousand TL in damages due to the incident and filed a complaint against the suspects. The prosecution requested that the defendants be punished separately for the crimes they are charged with.
