Interior Minister asked about Zeydan Karalar: Why hasn't he returned to his post?

The fact that Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar has not returned to his post despite being released from detention continues to be a subject of debate. The issue was brought to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey by CHP Adana Deputy Müzeyyen Şevkin. Şevkin submitted a written parliamentary question for Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi to answer.

The failure to reinstate Mayor Karalar to his post despite his release after spending 212 days in detention is causing public backlash and leading to various allegations. A satisfactory and transparent explanation is expected regarding why Zeydan Karalar, who was elected with the votes of the people of Adana, has not returned to his post.

• Are there other mayors in Turkey who have not been reinstated despite being released in a similar manner? If so, what are their numbers and distribution by province?
• Is there any change on the agenda regarding the current legislation on the suspension or reinstatement of elected officials?
