As part of an ISIS investigation conducted by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out in 8 provinces on October 6. A total of 39 people were detained in operations conducted in Kahramanmaraş, Istanbul, Ankara, Konya, Zonguldak, Adana, Hatay, and Gaziantep.
Following their processing at the police station, 22 of the suspects referred to the courthouse were arrested. Judicial control measures were applied to 17 individuals.
Sadi Yüksel, who was among those detained in the operation, was also referred to the court with a request for arrest. The court decided to apply a "judicial control measure in the form of house arrest" instead of ordering Yüksel's detention.
The footage that emerged in the public domain following the investigation has brought about a new inquiry. The Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an ex officio investigation has been launched regarding allegations that Yüksel and the accompanying suspects were brought to the courthouse in reverse handcuffs with pressure applied to the backs of their necks, as well as the dissemination of photographs related to this.
In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the practices in question were "contrary to general investigation procedures," and that an investigation would be conducted "against public officials and other relevant parties" due to the unauthorized taking and dissemination of the photographs.
The decision sparked debate over the dissemination of operation footage to the press and the manner in which the suspects were transported to the courthouse. Evaluations regarding the news reports pointed out that criticisms directed at the detailed publication of house searches and moments of detention in various other investigations are often not made the subject of an investigation themselves.
