Investigation into Sağlık-Sen: Prosecutor's office requests financial records and fund documents

It has been reported that in an investigation launched following a complaint filed against Sağlık-Sen and some of its executives, the prosecutor's office has requested numerous documents regarding the union's financial records.

According to a report by Kadir Gürhan from Elips Haber, the investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is focusing on allegations concerning the financial operations of the Mutual Aid Fund, which operates within the union.

The complaint petition submitted to the prosecutor's office alleges that the fund's regulations and financial records have not been made accessible to members or audit mechanisms. The petition further claims that union resources were used for certain commercial activities and that not all income generated was reflected in official records.

Among the allegations included in the complaint petition is that the income from a hotel, which is stated to be located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, and allegedly purchased with union resources, was not recorded. Other allegations include that some executives were paid high salaries and bonuses in violation of the bylaws, that regular payments to retired executives have continued, and that some branch presidents were given payments reaching up to 1 million 500 thousand TL under the name of "advances."

The petition also alleges that some expenses related to the wedding of Sağlık-Sen General Secretary Durali Baki's son, held in Istanbul in 2021, were covered by the union budget.

It has been learned that as part of the investigation, the prosecutor's office has requested audit reports prepared since 2022, decisions and justifications regarding salary increases, records of advance and bonus payments, payments made to retired executives, and bank account information belonging to the union and the Mutual Aid Fund.

It was also reported that the prosecutor's office has requested that all information and documents regarding the purchase process of the hotel in Beyoğlu be submitted.
