Investigation launched into Ece Ronay's Turkish Armed Forces post
An investigation has been launched against social media influencer Ece Ronay on charges of "insulting the state's military organization" due to her remarks regarding the Turkish Armed Forces.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated legal proceedings against Ece Ronay following a post that went viral on social media. Authorities took action after the statements Ronay shared on her social media account regarding the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).
In a statement issued by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that an ex officio investigation has been launched under Article 301/2 of the Turkish Penal Code on the charge of "insulting the state's military organization" in light of Ece Ronay's posts.
Ronay's widely discussed post included the following remarks: "If I give my zakat to the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, would it be valid? I don't know, we could buy bombs or something. Does it count as zakat?"
