Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the "fund investigation" conducted within the scope of capital market transactions. Gürlek reported that the investigation is being carried out in a multi-faceted manner by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau of Investigation into Money Laundering Crimes, with the support of MASAK and the efforts of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch.
Sharing on his social media account under the title "Our citizens' savings are not ownerless, no one is above the law," Gürlek stated that state institutions are working in coordination to protect the savings of citizens, ensure the security of the financial system, and track the proceeds of crime.
According to the information provided by Gürlek, judicial proceedings have been initiated against a total of 76 suspects to date in the operations. While 45 of these individuals have been arrested, judicial control measures have been applied to 5 suspects. Arrest warrants have been issued for 12 suspects, and it was announced that judicial proceedings are ongoing for 14 suspects currently in custody.
Minister Gürlek stated that measures have also been taken regarding the assets of the suspects within the scope of the investigation. Gürlek said, "No one is being allowed to hide assets or prevent our victimized citizens from accessing their rights."
The assets of all fund owners and suspects in management positions have been seized. The assets of their first-degree relatives have been frozen.
In his statement, Gürlek emphasized that no one is being protected or favored, noting that the chain of responsibility revealed by the evidence is being followed. Stating that those responsible will be held accountable before the law, Gürlek noted that the rights of victimized citizens will not be left unprotected.
