While search efforts continue to find 11-month-old Büşra Balıkçı, who went missing in the İncedere Plateau of Göndüren village in the Divriği district of Sivas, a new development has occurred in the investigation.
A search was launched in the area following a report that the baby had gone missing from the tent where the Balıkçı family, who are engaged in livestock farming, were temporarily staying. 10 suspects, including mother Elif Balıkçı and father Yusuf Balıkçı, who were taken into custody as part of the investigation, were referred to the courthouse under heavy security measures.
SHE HAD CHANGED HER STATEMENT
It was reported that in her initial statement, mother Elif Balıkçı claimed that her child had been sold for money, but later changed her statement, alleging that the father, Yusuf Balıkçı, had killed the baby. It was stated that Elif Balıkçı said she had previously given false testimony because she was afraid and that she filed a complaint against her husband.
Following this allegation, Elif Balıkçı was taken to the vicinity of the İncedere Plateau under the supervision of a prosecutor to conduct a site reconstruction. No traces or evidence belonging to baby Büşra have been found yet in the searches conducted by gendarmerie public security teams, commando units, and AFAD using drones and tracking dogs in the challenging terrain conditions.
After the prosecution procedures, mother Elif Balıkçı and father Yusuf Balıkçı were brought before the court and arrested. It was learned that the questioning of the other suspects is ongoing. It was reported that the family's other 4 children, aged between 3 and 9, have been taken under state protection.
