New court ruling in Murat Cemcir's 10,000 lira debt dispute
The long-standing debt dispute between famous actor Murat Cemcir and producer Necati Kocabay is back on the judiciary's agenda. Ruling that the decision was made with incomplete examination, the higher court has decided for the case to be reheard.
Producer Necati Kocabay, who stated that he lent 10,000 lira to Murat Cemcir in 2020, had applied to the court claiming that this money was not repaid.
Following the lawsuit he filed at the Istanbul Civil Court of First Instance, Kocabay also initiated enforcement proceedings. At the end of the process, the court of first instance ruled in favor of Kocabay, ordering Cemcir to pay both the debt and a 20 percent enforcement denial compensation.
RETURNED FROM THE HIGHER COURT
Upon appeal, the file was moved to the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice. The higher court, which examined the file, overturned the local court's decision on the grounds that sufficient examination had not been conducted. Thus, the debt issue between Kocabay and Cemcir has entered the judicial process once again.
This development has reignited the ongoing dispute between the parties. With the retrial, whether the 10,000 lira debt was actually paid and the obligations of the parties will be examined in detail once more.
When the decision will be announced and what new evidence will be evaluated in the file will become clear in the coming days.
