New development in the Ayşe Tokyaz murder case: Police officers to be tried in high criminal court

A significant development has occurred in the case regarding the murder of 22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz, whose body was found in a suitcase in Eyüpsultan on July 13. In addition to those who allegedly assisted in the murder committed by former police officer Cemil Koç, two police officers who leaked the testimonies of Tokyaz's twin sister, Esra Tokyaz, will also be tried in the high criminal court. The Küçükçekmece 7th Criminal Court of First Instance has referred the file of these police officers to the high criminal court.

THE TRIAL OF THE POLICE OFFICERS CONTINUES

Police officers Necdet Ç. and Zülfü B., who were serving at the Malatya Narcotics Crimes Investigation Branch, are being tried on charges of providing unlawful information to Cemil Koç.

Ayşe Tokyaz's family and their lawyers were present at the hearing. The prosecutor requested that these police officers be tried for 'aiding and abetting intentional homicide' and proposed that the file be merged with the main murder case. The court ruled for the continuation of the detention of the imprisoned police officer, while ordering that judicial control measures remain in place for the other defendant.

Cemil Koç and the other defendants will appear before the judge at the first hearing of the case, which will be held at the Küçükçekmece 2nd High Criminal Court on December 29. The indictment demands an aggravated life sentence for Cemil Koç for the crime of 'premeditated murder of a woman with monstrous feeling and torture.' Additionally, a prison sentence of 4 to 15 years is requested for the crimes of 'deprivation of liberty by using force, threat, or deception' and 'blackmail.' For the other defendant, Oğuz Kal, an aggravated life sentence and 3 to 12 years of imprisonment for additional crimes are requested.
