New harassment allegation in the Turkish Parliament
While the investigation into the sexual harassment of female interns at the Turkish Parliament restaurant continues, a new allegation of harassment involving a high-level employee during Mustafa Şentop's tenure as Speaker has emerged.
The revelation that high school girls working as interns at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) restaurant were subjected to sexual harassment had caused a major public outcry. Following this incident, an investigation was launched, resulting in the dismissal and arrest of three staff members.
According to the latest developments, another allegation of harassment has surfaced in the Parliament. It has been learned that a complaint was filed by a woman working in the service staff against a TBMM employee who held high-level positions and was known for his closeness to AKP member Mustafa Şentop during his tenure as Speaker of the Parliament.
Following this complaint, an inquiry was initiated by the TBMM General Secretariat. WhatsApp messages attached to the petition are being examined, and statements from the parties involved have been taken. It was stated that the administrative investigation regarding the person against whom the complaint was filed is ongoing and that necessary steps will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. Officials emphasized that the process is being conducted in confidentiality and that the rights of the parties will be protected.
