New judicial year begins on September 1: Hearing calendar for critical cases announced

With the end of the judicial recess, the new judicial year will begin as of September 1. In the new term, in addition to the political agenda, hearings will be held for murder, organized crime, and public expenditure files that are closely followed by the public.

One of the prominent topics on the judicial calendar will be the process regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention held in 2023. The file concerning the decision of the 36th Civil Chamber of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice regarding "absolute nullity" has come to the agenda of the 3rd Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation for appellate review.

CONSECUTIVE HEARINGS IN SEPTEMBER

Notable hearings will be held in the first days of the new judicial year. The hearing in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization case will be held on September 3. The sixth hearing of the criminal case regarding allegations of irregularities in the CHP convention will be held on September 16.

The hearing for the case regarding the death of Sema Esen, known to the public as "Aleyna Çakır," will be held on September 22. In the case where 14 defendants are being tried regarding the concert expenditures of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in the 2021-2024 period, the new hearing date has been set for October 16.

The Umut Case, which covers unsolved murders, is also among the files to be followed in the new judicial year. The next hearing of the case, which includes the murders of Uğur Mumcu as well as Bahriye Üçok, Muammer Aksoy, and Ahmet Taner Kışlalı, will be held on December 2 at the Ankara 5th High Criminal Court.

In the CHP convention file at the Court of Cassation, it is expected that the case will proceed to the merits after the preliminary examination. It is stated that the decision to be rendered could have decisive consequences regarding the debates on the legal status of the CHP administration.
