New wave in AHBAP investigation: Housing purchases and real estate transfers under scrutiny

New details have emerged regarding the 4th wave of the operation conducted as part of the investigation into the AHBAP Association. It was reported that 13 suspects were detained in the operation, and that the housing and container purchases carried out by the association for earthquake victims, as well as real estate transfers, are being examined.

It was stated that the investigation has been expanded based on allegations that donations made to the association were used for purposes other than their intended use. The investigation file also included association checks, bank and crypto asset accounts, transactions carried out through payment institutions, and financial relations assessed to be linked to Haluk Levent.

HOUSING CONTRACTS UNDER REVIEW

According to the report by Sabah, it was determined that the AHBAP Association had made agreements with the companies Hamle Yapı, Azim Yol, Pegas, and ISB to build 1,300 houses for earthquake victims, and that advance payments were made from the association's treasury. However, it was alleged that the number of houses delivered remained at 490.

Within the scope of the investigation, the allegation that a total of 59 real estate properties were transferred to Yeliz Kaya, the assistant of Haluk Levent, was also placed under scrutiny. The distribution of the real estate transfers mentioned in the sources was reported as follows:

TRUSTEE APPOINTED TO THE ASSOCIATION

With the decision of the Istanbul 8th Criminal Court of Peace, the management of the real estate, vehicles, cash assets in bank accounts, and other assets belonging to the AHBAP Association was transferred to a trustee. In the decision, Lawyer Rıdvan Can, Lawyer Mustafa Göktuğ Kaya, and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kasım Han were appointed as trustees.

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek had announced that housing and container purchases, suspicious real estate transfers, checks issued by the association, and financial-commercial relations were being examined in all aspects within the scope of the investigation. Gürlek had reported that a transaction volume of approximately 20 billion liras was detected in the bank, crypto asset, and payment institution accounts belonging to the suspects.

It was reported that those detained in the 4th wave of the operation included Ayhan Demir from Azim Yol İnşaat A.Ş., Nejdet Kuy from Pegas Global A.Ş., Murat Yaren and Ayhan Çevik from Hamle İnşaat A.Ş., AHBAP Association Purchasing Manager Deniz Şimşek, Başaran Holding owner Hüseyin Başaran, Recep Demir and Emre Saral from Power İnşaat A.Ş., Faruk Koç from Koçsu Yapı A.Ş., as well as Orhan İnan, Sibel Kaya, Muhammed Ali Yılmaz, and Ali Demirhan.
