Özgür Özel heads to Çağlayan with Dilek İmamoğlu: 'Saraçhane is entrusted to you'
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel set off for the Çağlayan Courthouse following the rally held at Saraçhane. Özel stated, "I am now heading from here to Çağlayan. I will carry your greetings and solidarity there."
The testimony process for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu at the courthouse was completed within an hour. Addressing the crowd at Saraçhane, Özel said, 'Saraçhane is entrusted to you.' Özel set off for the Çağlayan Courthouse together with Ekrem İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek İmamoğlu.
Özgür Özel delivered a speech on the fourth night of protests regarding the detention of İmamoğlu. In his speech, Özel called on President Erdoğan and warned citizens to be cautious against provocations.
The highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:
''Tonight you exercised your right to take to the streets and protest. I greet you all with respect. Every color of the left and the right is present here together.
Erdoğan gave an unlawful order. What can the Governor and the police chief do? I am calling out to the Istanbul Governor: History is being written in Istanbul tonight. Do not stand against this; you cannot stand against it. If you throw fireworks at the police, I cannot defend that. Please maintain a peaceful stance. We are right, and we will win.
In this square, we all want the same thing: ‘There is no salvation alone, the only way is all together or none of us.''
At the end of his speech, Özel conveyed Ekrem İmamoğlu's greetings to the crowd and set off toward the Çağlayan Courthouse for support.
