Özlem Çerçioğlu faces legal action: Allegations of pressure to join the AKP

Some personnel working at the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality have recently been voicing complaints to the public, alleging that they were pressured to join the AKP. Ömür Akkız has recently joined these discussions. Akkız, who served as a field supervisor within ASKİ, claimed that she was removed from her position and subsequently fired because she did not bow to the pressure to join the party.

LEGAL PROCESS ABOUT TO BEGIN

Akkız stated that she would pursue legal action, saying, "I am currently initiating the necessary procedures through my lawyer. There are many friends of mine who were dismissed before me." No official statement has yet been made by the municipal administration following these allegations.

"THERE WAS IRREGULARITY IN THE DEMOTION OF MY SUPERVISORY ROLE"

Akkız described what she experienced with the following words:

"I have been working at the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality ASKİ General Directorate, Department of Subscriber Affairs, since March 2015. Unfortunately, we are going through a bad process. I am the ASKİ field supervisor for 17 districts, and at the same time, I am a department chief in the Department of Subscriber Affairs. First, they wanted to make me a member of the AKP. They used me for this as well. They wanted me to convey this to all personnel. After this process, we entered a turbulent period. Unfortunately, I was reassigned to Bozdoğan as a meter reader. I am honored by this. It is not important in any way, but there was an irregularity in the demotion of my supervisory role. None of these were notified to me in any way."

"THERE ARE MANY FRIENDS OF MINE WHO WERE DISMISSED BEFORE ME"

Akkız claimed that there was illegality in both her reassignment and her dismissal, and stated that the process had been experienced by other people before her.

"I faced mobbing during this process. During the time I went to my assigned workplace, I was not given any work at all. I sat there completely idle from morning until evening. Unfortunately, my salary was not deposited at all. From this point on, I decided to continue the legal struggle. I want to proceed by providing the necessary procedures through my lawyer right now. There are many friends of mine who were dismissed before me. This process will continue after me as well. I hope we do our best to claim our rights in unity and solidarity. We will get our rights to the end. Do not give up in any way," she said.

While there has been no response from the municipality regarding the allegations, it is awaited with curiosity how the process will unfold.
