Presidential security personnel arrested

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced in a public statement following the incident of violence against a woman in Ankara that Yasin Çakmak, a member of the Presidential Security Department, has been arrested on allegations of assaulting his wife.

In a message shared on social media regarding the matter, Minister Tunç stated that violence against women can never be accepted under any circumstances.

Tunç included the assessment that “Violence against women is one of the darkest, ugliest, and most despicable attacks targeting human dignity.” Expressing that they do not approve of any form of violence in general, Tunç underscored that attacks against women, in particular, are unacceptable in every situation.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Immediately following the incident, a judicial investigation was launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Yasin Çakmak, who was taken into custody upon the complaint of the victim who alleged she was subjected to violence by her husband, was arrested by the Ankara Duty Criminal Court of Peace on charges of “intentional injury.”
