Following the decision to arrest 15 people as part of the investigation into the Sarıgül family, a new allegation regarding the file has emerged. The newspaper Sabah reported that an audio recording, allegedly belonging to Yeni Parti deputy Mustafa Sarıgül, has been included in the prosecutor's file.
In the report, it was claimed that in a conversation allegedly held between Sarıgül and Sinan Çampınar, Sarıgül targeted the detained IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu. According to the newspaper, it was alleged that in the recording, Sarıgül said, "No one would commit the treachery that İmamoğlu committed against us, he is dishonorable."
While information reflected to the public regarding the details of the investigation file remains limited, the fact that journalist Murat Ağırel is among those arrested in the file has sparked controversy. It was stated that Ağırel was arrested while he was attempting to verify the story he was working on while investigating the file.
Mustafa Sarıgül, in a statement he made a day earlier, argued that the accusations were based on forged documents. Sarıgül stated, "The honor, dignity, and freedom of every citizen of the Republic of Turkey are entrusted to the state. I would have expected the justice system to protect its citizens against those who use the judiciary for personal grudges and hostility."
In his statement, Sarıgül noted, "The documents presented by the individuals making the accusations are forged documents to such an extent that they would not even require the opening of any investigative proceedings," adding that they would continue their legal struggle to prove the innocence of his family members and friends.
DETAIL OF AUDIO RECORDING IN AĞIREL’S TESTIMONY
Following the audio recording allegation, the account in Murat Ağırel’s defense has also come to the fore again. Ağırel had stated that Sinan Çampınar sent him audio recordings taken without permission and short videos that he claimed were recorded secretly; however, he did not provide any receipts or documents regarding the alleged money transfers.
In his defense, Ağırel conveyed that Çampınar said he would send company information regarding Osman Gökçek, and that he set the condition that the Sarıgül file be reported as a prerequisite for this. No separate statement has been made by the Sarıgül camp regarding the audio recording allegation featured in the Sabah newspaper.
