Results of the 5th round of the Court of Cassation presidential elections announced
No candidate was able to secure an absolute majority in the fifth round of the presidential elections, which began following the expiration of Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca's 4-year term. The election will continue tomorrow with the sixth round of voting.

Following the expiration of Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca's 4-year term, an election for the presidency of the Court of Cassation was held yesterday (March 26).
No candidate was able to secure an absolute majority in the first 3 rounds of the 5-candidate Court of Cassation presidential election.
After no candidate received at least 175 votes, which is the absolute majority of the 348 members of the Court of Cassation, in the first two rounds of the election, a third round of voting was held.
In the third round of the election, Court of Cassation President Akarca received 110 votes, Head of the Civil Chamber General Assembly Adem Albayrak received 22, Head of the 3rd Civil Chamber Ömer Kerkez and Head of the 3rd Penal Chamber Muhsin Şentürk received 96 each, and Head of the 12th Civil Chamber Ayhan Tuncal received 10 votes.
NO RESULT IN THE FOURTH ROUND EITHER
As a result of the voting in the fourth round, Court of Cassation President Akarca received 96 votes, Head of the 3rd Civil Chamber Ömer Kerkez received 125, and Head of the 3rd Penal Chamber Muhsin Şentürk received 105 votes.
The election is continuing with the fifth round of voting.
If no candidate can secure an absolute majority in the fifth round of voting, the election will be repeated with those who re-apply for candidacy.
An absolute majority of the total number of members must be present in the elections.
ABSOLUTE MAJORITY STILL NOT SECURED
No candidate was able to secure an absolute majority in the fifth round of voting either.
As a result of the voting, Court of Cassation President Akarca received 105 votes, Head of the 3rd Civil Chamber Ömer Kerkez received 127, and Head of the 3rd Penal Chamber Muhsin Şentürk received 96 votes.
With this result, the election has been left to the sixth round of voting to be held tomorrow.
Those who re-apply for candidacy will also be able to participate in the sixth round of voting.
An absolute majority of the total number of members must be present in the elections.
