Scandals involving fake diploma gang continue: They even used the information of earthquake victims!

In the case opened in May, a lawsuit was filed against 134 people for issuing fake diplomas by copying the electronic signatures of public institutions. With the supplementary indictment completed in July, the number of defendants rose to 199.

The indictment stated that the university records of lawyers who died in the earthquakes on February 6, 2023, were deleted and replaced with fake graduation documents.

Osman Ulunç, a contractor in Ankara, filed a complaint against Zeynep Karacan in the fake diploma investigation. Ulunç alleged that Karacan introduced herself as a teacher and obtained his e-Government password to register a fake diploma in his name. Karacan demanded 150 thousand liras to delete the record, but said she deleted the transaction when the payment was not made.

EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS' RECORDS WERE USED

In the indictment, an examination of suspect Yelda Boğa's phone revealed messages with Ziya Kadiroğlu and Mıhyeddin Yakışır regarding how to add fake graduation records. In these correspondences, it was determined that lists of lawyers who lost their lives in the earthquake were obtained and sent to each other, and that they shared mocking messages of condolence regarding these individuals' deaths.

In her statement, Yelda Boğa said she did not know why Ziya Kadiroğlu wanted the information of the lawyers who died in the earthquake. Ziya Kadiroğlu, on the other hand, stated that he provided moral support to his family and those around him after the earthquakes.

FAKE DIPLOMA ADVERTISEMENTS

Suspect Yusuf Algan Çelik stated that he saw an advertisement on Instagram saying "diplomas provided" and contacted a person named Oğuz via Telegram.

Çelik stated that he requested a 2-year Tourist Guiding diploma from Oğuz, but that Oğuz told him this department was 4 years long and the fee was 200 thousand liras. He also stated that he learned the transactions were carried out by deleting the graduation information of people who died in the earthquake.
