Journalist Ertuğrul Özkök gave a statement to the prosecutor's office as part of an "insulting the President" investigation launched against him due to his remarks in a program he attended.
Özkök arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan with his lawyer. Following the prosecutorial procedures, he made a brief statement to journalists in front of the courthouse.
Speaking about the accusation against him, Özkök said, "Insulting the President is something that would never even cross my mind. The prosecutor asked the questions, we gave our statement, and we left."
Stating that the prosecutor's office will make the assessment in the next stage of the investigation, Özkök said, "I have nothing more to say now. Because since it has been referred to the judiciary, the rest is, of course, up to the prosecutor's assessment."
After his statement, Özkök left the courthouse.
