Justice Minister Akın Gürlek’s lawyer, Abdullah Adır, responded to statements made following the ruling that ordered 750 thousand lira in non-pecuniary damages in the lawsuit filed against Özgür Özel.
It was stated that the lawsuit was filed due to claims that Gürlek “had 16 land registry records.” Reacting to Özel’s statements after the verdict, Adır argued in a post on his social media account that the claims did not reflect the truth.
In his statement, Adır characterized the remarks directed at Gürlek as “statements that violate personal rights and constitute insult and slander.” He stated that for this reason, the court decided in the lawsuit that Özel must pay 750 thousand lira in non-pecuniary damages.
"IF SIMILAR STATEMENTS CONTINUE, THE LEGAL PROCESS WILL CONTINUE"
Stating that they had no request for land registry records not to be requested from the court, Adır said, “It is established that we had no request for land registry records not to be requested, both in our oral statements presented to the court during the hearing and in the petitions we submitted to the file.”
Adır also criticized Özel’s statements following the verdict, noting that if similar statements continue, legal processes will continue.
