Hülya Şimşek, a lawyer and CHP member of the Sultangazi Municipal Council, has been arrested as part of an investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
It was stated that the investigation was launched following allegations that an individual identified as Ş.Ç. was threatened by a criminal organization via social media accounts and various phone numbers, and that money was demanded from them.
In the case file regarding the crimes of "threats" and "qualified extortion," Şimşek, who is considered to be the instigator of the incident, was taken into custody. After being processed at the police station, Şimşek was referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested by the duty magistrate judge.
