Tayfun Kahraman's wife Meriç Demir Kahraman shares: 'This country needs Tayfun'

Meriç Demir Kahraman, the wife of urban planning expert Dr. Tayfun Kahraman, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison in the Gezi Park trial, made a call regarding Tayfun Kahraman on her social media account, stating, "They called from the district mufti's office regarding a mosque that needs renovation in a district of Istanbul with high earthquake risk." 

"I AM APPEALING TO COMMON SENSE AND CONSCIENCE"

Meriç Demir Kahraman’s post is as follows:

Just now, the district mufti's office called to consult with my husband, Tayfun Kahraman, regarding a mosque that needs renovation in a district of Istanbul with high earthquake risk, because he previously served as the Head of the Earthquake Risk Management Department at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB).

Based on their previous discussions, they said they needed his opinion to solve newly emerged problems. I told them they could not speak with Tayfun; they were very surprised, and when I told them the reason, they were very saddened.                                                                       

Tayfun Kahraman, a professional who is consulted and whose opinion is sought on issues regarding urbanization, just as with a mosque to be renovated, has been imprisoned since April 25, 2022, unlawfully and without evidence, on the allegation of attempting to overthrow the government for fulfilling his constitutional duty and social responsibility!

This country needs Tayfun; I am appealing to common sense and conscience so that he can return to his work and to his students!
